NTFB remains committed to their mission to close the hunger gap in North Texas by helping provide access to nutritious food. Nutritious food is critical to maintaining good health; so it is more important now than ever before to reach our community members in need. 

 

 Due to the pandemic, 1 in 6 North Texans of which 1 in 5 school going children are food challenged today. Feeding America estimates that nearly 800,000 people in North Texas need help with food. And 40% of them are seeking food assistance for the first time!

 

We cannot stop now. Our neighbors still need our help. We, as the Indian American community of North Texas have shown that when we unify, our individual efforts take on an impact that we individually would not have.

HungerMitao is a volunteer-driven grassroots movement, focused on raising awareness about hunger in the USA, improving community engagement, as well as channeling resources and contributions of the Indian American community towards fighting hunger through the Feeding America network of food banks. Launched in North Texas in 2017, the movement has enabled more than 30 million meals through Feeding America and food banks in North Texas, Houston, New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle.

 

It does that through:

• Increasing hunger-awareness
• Encouraging active volunteering
• Conducting food drive campaigns
• Raising crucial funds

In the spirit of “give where you live”, the vision of HungerMitao is for the Indian American community to be recognized as a leader in the fight against hunger in North Texas!
